ABOUT US

Vidhyaa Giri College of Arts and Science (VCAS), Puduvayal, Karaikudi – 630 108. A new college is being launched by Puduvayal Shri Veerasekara Umaiyambigai Educational and Charitable Trust from the Academic year 2016 – 2017 which is affiliated to Alagappa University, Karaikudi. To promote and enrich the rural youth with knowledge and skills on par with their urban counterparts is the major objective of the new objectives.

The college is located in a serene, green and a sprawling environment of 5.17 acres landed area inside 14 acres belonging to the trust in Veerasekarapuram village near Puduvayal just 12 kms away from Karaikudi. It is a Co-Educational Institutions. The Landscaping ensures that the entire campus maintains a comfortable and good educational ambience for pursuit of higher education.

ABOUT THE MANAGEMENT

Vidhyaa Giri College of Arts and Science will be managed by Puduvayal Shri Veerasekara Umaiyambigai Educational and Charitable Trust. The trust members are business tycoons and established educational administrators. The Correspondent and Secretary Dr. R. SWAMINATHAN is a well-known educational administrator. He has thirty years of rich teaching and administrative experience in managing successful educational institutions in Karaikudi and Puduvayal. He is one of the best teacher awardees by the Government of Tamilnadu in the year of 2002 and is a renowned Mathematics Professor. He is a member in the panel of Mathematics Board Constituted by Government of Tamilnadu. A foresighted visionary, he aims at contributing his might in the field of higher education. Thiru MP. Krishnan, Chairman of the trust and Thiru M. Mohammed Meera, Treasurer are experts in the educational administration and well known people in this backward district who are willing to dedicate themselves to serve the society so as to impart quality higher education to the needy and the downtrodden.

Dr. R. Swaminathan, M.Sc., B.Ed.,M.Phil., Ph.D., is the founder cum correspondent of Vidhyaa Giri group of educational institutions. With more than three decades of teaching experience, he guides and leads all the teachers. He is a Mentor, a Role model not only to the teachers but also to the students. He is the author for Std XII Maths text book and editor for other textbooks. The school rose to greater heights in terms of standard and strength. He fulfilled his dream of opening a school with all facilities in Karaikudi. It has classes up to Std XII. Accordingly with all fabulous facilities a new college in the name of Vidyaa Giri College of arts and science was started in the year 2016 and it is an awesome college for its super infrastructure with a high degree of standard which has given students a platform to achieve their aspirations and goals regardless of their financial background. His outstanding contribution to the field of education has also garnered personal accolades. He is the recipient of numerous distinguished awards, namely the Dr.S.Radhakrishnan State award for Best Teacher for the year 2002-2003. In addition, he was also awarded the BOLT-BROAD-OUTLOOK- LEARNER, TEACHER award in 2003. TATA Consultancy Services also honored his contribution by presenting him the “Education India’s Best Teacher” award in2005.

Thiru. M. Mohammed Meera is the treasurer of Vidhyaa Giri Group of Institutions. He is an industrialist and a philanthropist with conglomeration of various industries. With a virtuous conscience of social commitment and a genuine urge of providing education to the society, he assisted in establishing Vidhyaa Giri Institutions.

Though he could vividly foresee the less advantaged aspects of establishing a college in rural setting, he vowed to start one in a serene place far away from the hustle and bustle of city.
